Police have announced an arrest in the slaying of a 67-year-old man in Port St. Lucie

PORT ST. LUCY. Port St. Lucie police are expected to announce details of an arrest Thursday in the September slaying of 67-year-old Francis Devon Gennasy, the agency reported.

Gennas was there was found on September 12 in his house in the 1000 block of Southeast Albatross Avenue “with obvious signs of violent trauma to the body,” police said. The address is south of Southeast Crosstown Parkway and east of Southeast Floresta Drive.

He did not show up for work, having last seen on September 6 This was announced by Acting Chief of Police Richard Del Toro. Employees contacted the police, who came to his home to check his financial support. Gennas reportedly worked at a local auto body business.

Del Toro said investigators believe Gennas, who appears to have purchased the home in 2002, was living with his wife, but no one else was in the home. Police believe his wife was out of town for several weeks at the time to see family.

A few days after Gennassi’s death, neighbors shared information about him. Brian Smith, 67, described him as a “very quiet man”.

“He was a very good guy,” Smith said. “I didn’t see anyone talking to him.”

Smith said Gennas didn’t talk to anyone and sometimes hung out in his garage. Smith said they sometimes talked about fruit, which he said they both grow. Once he gave Gennasi a lemon tree.
