Camper ‘totally lost’ after overnight fire in Republic town

REPUBLIC TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WLUC) – A fire destroyed a camper in western Marquette County early Thursday morning.

Firefighters worked on the scene for several hours to extinguish the fire.

Around 3:30 a.m., the Champion, Humboldt and Republic fire departments responded to 5365 Floodwood Drive in Republic Township for a report of a structure fire. When they arrived, the camper was fully engulfed in flames.

A TV6 reporter arrived at the scene around 4:30 a.m. and spoke with a Michigan State Trooper who said the camper was completely destroyed and that the fire had spread to a nearby car.

Firefighters were waiting for the smoke to clear before approaching, and no injuries were reported at this time, a police officer said.

TV6 called the Michigan State Police for this story. This article will be updated if new information is published.
